159-6. SOLD! 2008 Stur-Dee Cat. This 14' 4' fiberglass cat is a
perfect blend of classic beauty and modern simplicity. From her beige decks,
molded to look and feel like the canvas covered decks of her predecessors,
to the oak rails and coamings, she accents the fine lines of her designer,
Edson Schock. Yet with her modern Marconi rig she'll show a turn of speed
and agility that many larger sloops can't do. Sail her single-handed... but
one look at her huge cockpit and you won't mind taking the whole family
along. A cuddy cabin gives protection from spray and room to store gear. The
seats and coamings are just the right height above the cockpit sole to be
comfortable. Sail her up on a sandy beach. Her fiberglass centerboard is
easily retractable and the rudder is protected by a skeg. Or trailer her to
your favorite lake. Anywhere you go, the Stur-Dee Cat will stand out, and
you'll want to stay out when others run for home. Asking $13,900; but
conversations lead to compromise. ||

sail covers. The motor well has a 24 volt trolling motor. Comes with a
trailer in good condition and a spare tire for the trailer. Stored indoors
last three years. Great boat for sailing. Could also be used as an electric
powered launch with no significant modification due to the location of the
motor well and moveable ballast. Selling it in favor of smaller boat, would
consider trade for a trailerable daysailer such as a Potter, Montgomery or
similar. Located in Chanhassen, MN. Asking Price: $6,000.
159-44. SOLD! 1977 18’ Herreshoff
America by Squadron Yachts. Squadron was based in Bristol, RI, like
Nowak & Williams, but made several improvements to this Halsey Herreshoff
design. According to Stan Grayson’s “Cape Cod Catboats”, these included
heavier fiberglass layup, a re-designed engine well to correct air
starvation, and raised cabin berths for increased seating comfort. The
Squadron version is hard to find and regarded as the best. As for the
Marshall Sanderling’s supposed speed superiority, that is most likely due to
the America’s propeller drag (solved by removing the engine for racing) and
300 lbs. greater displacement (ballast is accessible and adjustable). The
outboard engine is a 1995 Yamaha 6 two-stroke, which has been maintained by
the yard. The sail was recently checked by a sailmaker who re-stitched any
loose seams and re-did the batten pockets. Overall condition is very good,
and the only known issue is that the trailer wheel bearings need greasing or
replacement and the tires probably should be replaced for long trips. Boat
is in Wellfleet, MA. Please contact me with any questions. $8500. .||
